Mantric mPod is the first Mantric sex toy I have ever tried and on first impression it looks elegant with a modern twist. Clearly aimed at the gadget savvy ‘iPod generation’, the clean lines, unfussy packaging, minimalist style and the mPod name itself noticeably take inspiration from a certain technology company. When removed from the packaging you are presented with two units connected by a strong but slim wire. One unit is the vibrating bullet, the other the controls – in fact it is not dissimilar to holding a Wii remote with the nunchuck attachment connected. My vibrator is purple, though it is actually more of a muted lavender and is also available in apricot and blue (which is a beautiful ‘duck egg’ shade). The Mantric Mpod feels divine, the material of both units feels almost velvety, it warms to the touch and feels very sensual on the skin.
Battery loading couldn’t be easier, unscrew the cap of the control and slide in one AA battery. Similarly the controls are also extremely straightforward; holding the control in whichever hand you feel most comfortable with the two buttons under your thumb, simply work through the modes. Pressing the top button will choose the sustained vibration modes – low, medium and high – while pressing the bottom button initiates the pulsating vibrations (there are seven of these, all of which are microchip controlled). All the modes can be reached in either direction by pressing the button until the cycle comes full circle. You will know when you have been through all the modes as the vibrating will stop until you press either button again. I was extremely impressed by the power and range of this seemingly diminutive toy. The three straight vibration settings of the mPod are perfectly pitched, with a tickly one, a reasonably strong one and a delightfully intense one. I thought the random unpredictability of the microchip controlled pulse settings was the thing that sets this sex toy apart from many others on the market. On some modes the vibrations build to a crescendo while on others they tease and tantalise, this, combined with the feel and design of the toy, makes for a truly wonderful clitoral vibrator. It is perfect for using on your own but can also be easily slipped into any lovemaking, either as foreplay or by positioning the bullet between you and your partner for a little extra spice.
The noise level too is a huge plus point as the mPod is very quiet, in fact, should you so desire, you could probably use it without even waking up your partner, never mind anyone else in the house! The price represents excellent value, I have paid a great deal more for larger named and more impressive looking sex toys but this one beats the vast majority hands down. Its petite dimensions mean it is very easy to store and would make an excellent travel companion, even if space is limited. Versatile, beautiful, practical and proficient, the Mantric mPod should be in every woman’s toy box.
