Lelo Insignia Soraya Review
Lelo Insignia Soraya Review

If you spend over £100 on a sex toy you will certainly harbour high expectations of your new intimate purchase. When you spend over £100 on a variation of the rabbit vibrator you will certainly be expecting much from a woman’s sex toy that has so much good competition. Having owned a Lelo Sex Toy before I knew before the box dropped through my door that the presentation of their designer vibrator wouldn’t disappoint. Soraya arrived with full flourish in Lelo’s decorative card outer packaging and signature gift box, which is perfect for storage and for impressive effect if you are looking for a gift with wow factor. When lifting the lid on Soraya it feels akin to the anticipation felt when revealing the contents of a jewellery box and in the case of this design led vibrator the comparison could not be more apt in its instantly apparent ornamental beauty. Funnily enough there is a piece of jewellery in the box as Soraya sits next to a brooch, illustrating the sweeping rounds of the Insignia logo. Soraya itself mirrors the curvature of the loops and rounds and although the dual stimulation parts of the rabbit vibrator are recognisable Soraya looks like nothing I have seen before. The organic lines of Soraya are appealing with a clitoral stimulator resembling a digit or smooth phallus rather than the classic rabbit ears of a dual stimulating sex toy. My toy was black silicone on the surface with a contrasting platinum coloured inset that looked so desirable that just admiring its artistic loveliness almost constituted foreplay itself. Inside the box there is a charger, satin storage pouch and instructions that were promptly discarded! Plug Soraya in as soon as it arrives and leave for a full charge, which promises 4 hours of vibrating pleasure although I always expect a little less (in my experience anyway).
The controls sit at the front of the sweeping loop and consist of three individual buttons set pleasingly into the silicone surface of Soraya. Pressing the + button enables the vibrations and keeping your finger on the button increases intensity, whilst logically pressing the – button takes the vibration level back down with a prolonged press turning Soraya off. I don’t like this turn off mechanism on sex toys as I get confused mid function which has caused a problem when I have needed to turn a sex toy off quickly but the intensity control feels intuitive in use and is very easy to change whilst enjoying the vibrator. The third button controls the function that at first press is a continuous buzz followed by 8 differing modes of vibration. The variation is impressive with combinations that throb, pulse and alternate between clitoral stimulator and penetrating shaft. There is a separate motor in both stimulating parts of the toy, which means that the power is present at both parts of the body. The clitoral stimulator seems to emit a stronger vibration but that may just be due to the clitoris being more sensitive than the vaginal wall. I must confess to preferring a constant vibration for build up to orgasm but thoroughly enjoyed the pattern of the vibrator functions during arousal and particularly with my partner where Soraya proves itself to be a great couples toy.
Its not until you begin using Soraya that you can truly appreciation its fluid form and looped handle design for both practical and aesthetic value. The shaft itself curves to a bulbous tip that can be massaged against the vaginal wall or even used against the clitoris if you prefer. The best thing about Soraya was its flexible clitoral-stimulating arm. The clit stim could be pushed and pressed against your body with complete control and when both penetrating shaft and clitoral stimulator were in place enabled flexibility with positioning that would suit any woman. I used a water based lubricant on the clitoral stimulator as I found that massaging the labia was improved with less friction but the ergonomic shape of Soraya’s rabbit shaft meant that extra lubrication wasn’t really needed. The looped handle makes manoeuvring the sex toy effortless and although a simple design principle makes satisfying self pleasure an easy finger curl away.
Finally, Soraya is waterproof and although I didn’t use it in the bath myself, with a 10-year quality warranty there doesn’t seem to be any concern over whether Soraya is going to be effectively watertight.
